Our Exercise Physiologist Gemma is able to actively restore physical function and wellness by equipping you with evidence based exercise programs for the prevention or management of your specific chronic condition(s) and/or sustained injuries. She has a special interest in the multidisciplinary management of persisting pain conditions such as chronic lower back pain and the implementation of return to work programs. She works primarily with musculoskeletal, immunological and mental health conditions such as:
Chronic pain, Osteoathritis, Osteoporosis, Osteopaenia, Chronic vertebral conditions, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue, cancer (prostrate, breast etc.), Anxiety, Depression, PTSD, Bipolar, Eating disorders and falls prevention.
She has a functional approach with exercise rehabilitation incorporating Cognitive Behaviout Therapy (CBT) principals and focuses on the goals, outcomes and activities you desire to achieve. She has a Bachelor of Exercise Physiology (UNSW), Diploma in Innovation Management (UNSW), a Graduate Certificate in Pain Management (USyd), and is currently undertaking studies in McKenzie Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT). She was awarded a University Prize for her research project on Pressure-Point Reliability.
She has lived in Canberra for 6 years and is a mother of two who all enjoy kicking a soccer ball, bushwalking and dirt road driving adventures. When she’s kid free and not keeping you fit and strong she’s mountain biking, long distance trail running or sipping a strong coffee and posting Instagram photos of her recent adventures.
