Functional Fit EP Classes

Pilates is now run as part of a Functional Fit rehabilitation focused exercise group as we believe this better caters in addressing the whole person during their rehabilitation.

City Clinic – Mondays 5.15pm – 6pm 

What is it?

Functional Fit is a small group class (4 person maximum) designed to provide you with personalised rehabilitation. The class will incorporate pilates, stretching and resistance exercises. If you are unable to attend general fitness classes due to sore knees, back, neck etc. this class is suitable for you. The purpose of the class is to provide guided rehabilitation for your medical conditions and injuries to regain your strength and fitness.

Why do it?

Once you have completed an Initial Assessment with our Exercise Physiologist it may be deemed suitable to attend a Functional Fit Group Exercise Class on a weekly basis for 6-8 weeks. We offer these group classes as a cost effective way to continue a supervised exercise program. Whilst under the banner of ‘group fitness’ each individual will have their own specific and individualised program. In this group setting you will be constantly monitored and your program will be progressed and altered regularly to ensure you continue to make solid progress towards your goals.

We run small (max 4 persons) group classes to ensure high levels of supervision. This also keeps your program personalised to your rehabilitation. Whilst we see many people without any specific medical condition in our group fitness programs, we also cater for a variety of medical conditions including, but not limited to:

  • Back Pain 
  • Core Strengthening (Incl. Pilates)
  • Management of Arthritis
  • Osteoporosis/penia
  • Diabetes
  • General Fitness & Strength Conditioning
  • Injury rehabilitaiton
  • Pulmonary rehabilitation
  • Mental health 
  • PCOS

We highly recommended undertaking a one off real-time ultrasound of your abdominal muscles with one of our Physiotherapists. You will learn how effectively you can engage the various abdominal and pelvic floor muscles and be given specific cues to enable correct contractions.
